This policy explains what Fuel Checker collects, why we collect it, how it may be shared, and the choices and rights you have.

Who we are
Fuel Checker is operated by WebHero. If you have any question about your data or want to exercise any of the rights below, get in touch through the website and we will respond within 30 days.
What we collect
If you create an account we store your email address and a securely hashed password so you can sign in. If you subscribe to alerts, reminders or the daily digest we store the details you give us - your email, postcode, chosen fuel and, where you provide them, your vehicle registration (for tax and MOT reminders) or your company details (looked up via Companies House when you tell us you are a business). If you save vehicles, favourite forecourts or routes, we store those too. We do not collect payment card details directly - those are handled by our payment processor.
Location data
When you allow it, your device location is used in your browser to centre the map and find nearby forecourts. It is processed on your device and is not sent to or stored on our servers unless you explicitly save a favourite or route that depends on it.
How we use your data
To sign you in, to show your saved items across your devices, to send the emails you opt into (price alerts, tax and MOT reminders, the cheapest-fuel digest), to tailor the service and offers to you - for example distinguishing business fleets from personal drivers - and to keep the service secure and reliable.
Commercial partners and data sharing
Fuel Checker is free to use because, like many free services, it is supported commercially. Where you subscribe to alerts, reminders or the digest, or share business details with us, we may share your contact details and business information with carefully selected partners - for example fuel card providers, fleet services, insurers and automotive brands - so they can send you relevant offers, and we may be paid for this. We may also create and sell aggregated market insights that do not identify you personally. You can opt out of partner sharing at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us, without losing access to the service.
Analytics
We use OpenPanel product analytics and, only if you accept the cookie banner, Google Analytics, to understand how the service is used. You can decline or withdraw analytics consent at any time via "Cookie preferences" in the footer.
Third parties who process data for us
Fuel prices come from the UK Government fuel open-data scheme and retailer feeds. Mapping uses OpenStreetMap and CARTO; routing uses OSRM; vehicle data comes from the DVLA and DVSA; company details come from Companies House. These providers process map tiles, routes and lookups on our behalf.
How long we keep it
Account and subscription data is kept while your account or subscription is active. When you delete your account or unsubscribe, your personal data is removed from our live systems promptly and from backups within 30 days. Anonymous, aggregated analytics and market insights may be retained as they cannot identify you.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data at any time from your account, or by emailing us. You can object to marketing and to partner sharing whenever you like - every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also complain to the UK data-protection regulator (the ICO) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.
